Blepharitis and Ocular Rosacea

Blepharitis and ocular rosacea are chronic inflamations along the margin of the eyelid.  Common signs and symptoms of blepharitis include:

  • Redness of the eyelids
  • Flaking skin on thelids
  • Crusting at the lid margin
  • Red eye
  • gritty sensation in the eye

Over half the people with roasacea affecting their skin have some symptoms of ocular rosacea.  People who have ocular rosacea may have red or bloodshot eyes, burning, tearing or the sensation of sand in the eye.  Rosacea cannot be cured but it can be treated.

Dr Lattman treats cular rosacea and blepharitis with "steri-lid" which is an eyelash "shampoo," oral and topical antibiotics, topical anti-inflamatory drops and lubricating drops.
