Fall is just around the corner. Days get shorter and the weather will turn colder and drier. This is the time of year when I start seeing patients in my office with dry eye, cracked and itchy eyelid skin and eczema. Here are some great tips for transitioning into fall while keeping your eyes healthy and looking good.

Lubricate your eyes! The first signs of “dry eye” are typically burning, a foreign body sensation and redness. I love refresh Optive preservative free lubricating eye drops to help combat dry eye. I keep them everywhere—at the slightest sensation of dryness, I put in a drop. If your eyes continue to feel dry with regular use, then I would suggest coming into the office to be evaluated as there are many great prescription treatments for dry eye.

Keep your skin well hydrated. My favorite for keeping my skin hydrated is cetaphil moisturizing cream for extra dry skin. It is Paraben and fragrance-free. I use it right after washing my face in the morning and night. It keeps my skin hydrated without irritating it.

Enjoy the cool days, but keep the health and beauty of your eyes in mind!

Call us at (212) 832-5456 or request online that we call you back by submitting our online request form here.

Patients come to see me every day looking for help with aging changes of their lower eyelids. They want the bags, hollows, wrinkles improved, but they also want to maintain the unique and natural shape of their eyes. I understand my patients’ concerns and have worked over the last 15 years to perfect a surgical technique that beautifully rejuvenates the lower lid, but also maintains a natural look and does not change the shape of the eye.

As an oculoplastic surgeon, I have studied and operated on eyelids exclusively for the past 21 years I have been in private practice. Therefore, I have a deep understanding of the eyelid anatomy, how the eyelids heal after surgery, and what results can be expected with different surgical approaches.

The “muscle suspension,” is a surgical technique that I developed early in my practice after being dissatisfied with the results I was seeing with the traditional lower eyelid blepharoplasty. The “muscle suspension” is a delicate yet powerful technique that restores the youthful anatomy of the deeper structures of the eyelids. This also ensures that the results are natural and long-lasting.

I have published scientific articles describing the technique and the benefits of using it in select patients. For more information or to see if you are a candidate for a lower lid blepharoplasty with a muscle suspension, call my office for a consultation.

Call us at (212) 832-5456 Or request online that we call you back by submitting our online request form here.

Many patients ask me, “How long will my cosmetic eyelid surgery last?” Cosmetic eyelid surgery can last a lifetime, and there are things you can do to keep your surgical results looking their best. While you will continue to age, your eyes will always look more youthful after your surgery than they would have without it.

With a healthy lifestyle and good skincare habits, the results of cosmetic eyelid surgery can last for years. With the excess, sagging skin gone, your eyes will always look refreshed, better, and more youthful than they would have without an eyelid lift. Likewise, if you have lower eyelid surgery, those puffy eye bags and sagging skin will be gone.

You can keep your eyes looking more youthful by wearing sunscreen daily, becoming or remaining a non-smoker, and practicing good nutrition and health habits. I recommend using sunscreen on the whole face daily (even in the winter), and wearing a hat and sunglasses whenever you are outside. This will help ensure that your results will age naturally with you.
